While we at CUPE 2278 do not offer training courses for TAs, we would love to direct you to resources that might help you in your job.  If you are aware of any other programs that may be of use to TAs, please contact us at, so that we can add more programs to this list.

TA training programs: general

The Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT) offers various workshops and training programs designed to improve your skills as a TA.  They also offer an excellent handbook with teaching strategies for a variety of situations.

TA training programs: department-specific

Biology TAs are encouraged to join the BioTAP training program.

The department of Classical, Near Eastern, and Religious Studies offers a TA training program, with workshops throughout the year.  Check for upcoming events here.

Workplace safety programs

For those of our members who work in laboratories or other situations requiring specialised safety training, Risk Management Services offers a variety of courses that may be of use.

Bullying and Harassment training program

All members are required to complete the online Bullying and Harassment course offered through Risk Management Services.  This course can be completed in about 30 minutes, from the comfort of your home or office.  Upon completion of this course, you will receive an electronic certificate confirming your participation; please e-mail this certificate to both your department secretary and to your supervising instructor.
